This morning was the second day of Wrestle Kingdom 14, the New Japan Pro-Wrestling star show, from Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan. One of the main fights was the confrontation between Chris Jericho and Hiroshi Tanahashi. The duel has occupied the penultimate place in the order of the card, only behind the stellar event, in which Chris Jericho has won the victory by submission.
This was the first appearance of the American wrestler in NJPW since his intervention on screen on November 3 at the Power Struggle event. A few months earlier, at the Dominion 6.9 in Osaka-jo Hall event held on June 9, 2019, Jericho faced Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship but lost.
After the defeat, he attacked Okada but Tanahashi performed the save, which caused Jericho to face him later. His challenge for the Wrestle Kingdom came in Power Struggle.
